Vikram Surya Chiruvolu team member Vikram is a social tech strategist and innovator based in DC. Past projects included building the first ever early voter data integration system in Java and a laptop-PC-based auto-phone-dialer for GOTV fieldwork in 2004, used by MoveOn.org; and as a full-stack developer and Tech Director for the video-blogging driven OnlineProgressiveCaucus.org site in 2005 using Drupal 5 and an open-source stack. Since then he’s worked for RedHat, the US Peace Corps, the Society for Science and Technotherapy.org in various tech dev, ops, and leadership roles. Technically, his strengths are in infrastructure architecture, dev & ops management, and technical business development. He’s evolved his public speaking, writing and leadership skills while working for progressive causes, which currently include promoting recovery-based approaches to ending mass incarceration and drug policy reform, using tech innovation to address wealth and income inequality, and reducing the influence of corporate money and interests in politics. Mary Zeiser team member Mary has vast organizing and activism experience with 99Rise and Democracy Spring as the art director, action planner, and action coordinator. She supported the the Indigenous People’s Power Project at Standing Rock as a facilitator of an art space which produced hundreds of patches and banners a day. She is the member of a small club of courageous individuals who disrupted the Supreme Court in protest of the horrendous Citizen’s United decision. She has trained countless numbers of new activists in NVDA and theory of change. Her work has always had an intersectional focus on making a difference in the quality of life for LGBT community and is always mindful of how movement spaces can be more welcoming and inclusive. Vasu Abhiraman team member Vasu is a former expert advisor for the Department of Commerce with southern roots, red state experience, AAPI/minority credibility & outreach experience. He has worked on many diversity initiatives during his time in government. He is a licensed Virginia attorney & has been in the center of many direct actions as a legal observer including the disruption of the Presidential Inauguration. His court support of the arrestees from that action continues today, and he has given oral testimony multiple times before the DC council. He is an avid musician and a member of the acapella group Strictly Vocals, but has also leveraged his musical talents and infectious charisma to lead freedom songs at many DC protests.
